A 23-year-old TikTok influencer from Kent, England, has been charged with the murder of her boyfriend in Dubai and faces the possibility of execution by firing squad. Brooke George, who met the victim online, claims she acted in self-defense during a violent altercation.
Detained in Dubai, a human rights group advocating for George, stated that she grabbed a knife in self-defense after her partner allegedly attacked her. The organization has called for her release on bail and for the case to be treated as one of domestic violence.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it is providing support to a British national detained in the United Arab Emirates and her family. George, formerly a John Lewis employee, was arrested in the early hours of June 22 and subsequently charged with premeditated murder.
While held at Bur Dubai Police Station, George alleged that she was subjected to deeply humiliating and distressing treatment, including being forced to strip naked in front of male officers without a female officer present, according to Detained in Dubai.
