A man was apprehended by security after he was filmed attempting to steal multiple display devices from an Apple store at Battersea Power Station. The footage shows a hooded individual removing phones from their security tethers before making a dash for the exit.
As the man reached the doorway, several security guards and store employees intervened, tackling him to the ground. The guards then retrieved the phones from his grasp and slid them across the floor to colleagues.
The incident occurred on Thursday. Data from the Metropolitan Police indicates a 37 percent surge in shoplifting offenses in London between February and July of the current year, with a small number of individuals responsible for a significant portion of these crimes. In England and Wales, shoplifting offenses rose by 5 percent in the year leading up to September 2025.
The Apple Store at Battersea Power Station, the tech giant's 40th store in the UK, opened in June 2023. The location also features the Apple Music Hall, a venue designed for live music performances and livestreams.
