A 17-year-old girl acted on instinct to rescue a boy who suffered severe burns after falling into a bonfire in Strabane, Northern Ireland. The incident occurred when the 17-year-old victim was knocked unconscious and fell onto the "white hot" fire during Halloween celebrations.

"The chaos around a bonfire is madness and it should never have happened that a young boy gets knocked out and put on a fire," said witness Tianna Patterson, 17, who saw the attack that preceded the boy falling into the flames. Patterson described the bonfire as "white hot."

According to BBC News, the boy will require extensive medical care and a long recovery period. Police are investigating the incident and are seeking witnesses, including anyone who may have captured the attack on mobile phones. No arrests have been made.

The witness, Patterson, told BBC Radio Foyle that bonfires "bring very little benefit, they are destructive, they are a serious danger to young people."
