A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder following an incident at a home in Dungannon, County Tyrone, on Saturday, August 29. An eight-year-old girl was discovered fighting for her life next to her dead father at the property.

Authorities responded to a report of a disturbance at a house in the Lisnahull Road area of Dungannon shortly before 11 a.m. on August 29. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a 61-year-old man, his 48-year-old wife with non-life-threatening injuries, and their severely injured eight-year-old daughter.

First aid was immediately administered by responding officers to the woman and girl. The young girl was transported to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, where she is currently in a stable condition. Her mother has since been released from the hospital. The teenager was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and was held in custody.

Detectives were granted a court extension to continue questioning the suspect. On Monday, the 16-year-old was formally charged and is scheduled to appear before Omagh Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Superintendent Peter Stevenson, Mid Ulster District Commander, stated that he does not believe there is any wider threat to the public but that police presence in the area will be increased. He confirmed that a significant number of officers are dedicated to the investigation and that updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
