Spain announced it will deploy military units to reinforce police in the North African enclave of Ceuta following a significant surge of migrants crossing from Morocco. The migrants arrived by sea and breached border barriers on July 30.

Video footage captured the scene of migrants reaching the shores on flotation devices and pushing past overwhelmed police officers. Authorities confirmed that additional soldiers and specialized police units are being dispatched to enhance border security. Officials have drawn comparisons between the current situation and a major migration surge that occurred in 2021.
