A passenger train derailed near Wickford station in Essex on Friday, the second such incident to occur in England within two days. British Transport Police confirmed that officers, paramedics, and firefighters responded to the scene, located approximately 30 miles east of London.

The rear carriages of the train reportedly came off the tracks, but police stated they remained in an upright position and no injuries were reported in this instance. National Rail indicated that efforts were underway to determine the cause of the derailment and warned of significant disruptions to train services throughout Friday afternoon.

This incident followed a derailment on Thursday involving a London to Eastbourne train near Lewes. In that event, three carriages overturned, leading to two passengers sustaining serious injuries and 18 others receiving minor injuries. All passengers from the Thursday derailment were evacuated within approximately three hours. The cause of both derailments is currently under investigation.
