A seagull in Northumberland, England, has been observed engaging in an unusual act of thievery, stealing a fish from a seal. The incident, which occurred on October 31, saw the gull dive-bomb the seal as it surfaced with its catch.
The two animals engaged in a brief struggle over the fish before the seagull managed to wrest it free. The bird then consumed its prize in a single gulp. The seagull targeted the seal at Warkworth Harbour.
Photographs from the scene depict the seal struggling in the water as the gull fought for possession of the fish. The images also show the gull flying away with the fish while the seal disappeared back beneath the water.
