Russell Brand's barrister, Ian Winter KC, has questioned why his accusers did not resist more forcefully during the alleged assaults, suggesting that their accounts lack credibility due to a lack of "screaming, kicking, slapping, or accusing him of rape."

In his closing speech at Southwark Crown Court, Winter argued that his client is not a "psychopath that rapes people and thinks that is normal." He asked the jury to consider whether it was credible that Brand, described as "highly promiscuous," only attacked three women over a decade, given his "immense amount of sex."

Winter suggested that the alleged victims only came forward after the public's perception of Brand was "poisoned" by a Channel 4 Dispatches program in 2023, which broadcast claims of sexual misconduct. He questioned why they did not report the attacks during the #MeToo movement in 2017.

Brand denies charges of three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of attempted indecent assault. The trial continues.

Brand was accompanied to court by his wife, Laura, and his father-in-law, Bernard Gallacher, a Ryder Cup-winning golfer, in a show of support.
