Russell Brand is facing two additional rape accusations following his conviction in a London criminal court on Thursday. The actor was found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault. He has been denied bail and faces a “significant” prison sentence.
The Metropolitan Police are investigating the new allegations. Officials stated that Brand has previously been interviewed under caution in connection with these accusations. The investigation remains ongoing, with files submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service for both complainants. Detectives are reportedly in close contact with prosecutors as inquiries continue.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy told Sky News that he speculated more individuals may come forward now that Brand has been convicted. He described the comedian as a “danger to women.”
Brand, 51, was previously found not guilty of two other rape charges and a count of attempted indecent assault. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday.
