Queen Camilla was visibly amused, seen in fits of laughter, after King Charles experienced a significant umbrella mishap during a recent Independence Parade in Antigua. The incident, now dubbed 'Umbrella Gate,' occurred during a sudden downpour as the royal couple attended a ceremony marking Antigua and Barbuda's 45th anniversary of independence.

While Queen Camilla quickly took shelter under an umbrella, King Charles was left standing alone on a podium. Viral footage captured the monarch gesturing with exasperation towards his staff, appearing to mouth "Where's the umbrella?" He was eventually provided with an umbrella by his equerry after a brief, solo soaking.

Unlike her husband's initial frustration, Queen Camilla appeared to find the situation humorous, laughing heartily as she attempted to dry off. The King, however, took the incident in good stride, later joking, "I've started growing watercress on my trousers."

The misplaced umbrella was considered an unusual oversight by the usually well-organized royal staff. The event took place against a backdrop of ongoing discussions in the Caribbean regarding reparations for slavery.

Despite the momentary disruption, the downpour lasted only about five minutes, allowing the remainder of the celebrations to proceed. King Charles proceeded to inspect service personnel under the umbrella and later interacted with West Indian cricketing legends, including Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Richie Richardson, Sir Andy Roberts, and Sir Curtly Ambrose.
