Police Scotland has launched a double murder investigation following the discovery of the bodies of Paul Lafferty and Gary Beaton in a flat on Chancellor Street in Glasgow's Partick area on Sunday. Post-mortem examinations conducted on Monday and Tuesday confirmed the causes of death were murder.
Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly of the force's Major Investigations Team urged anyone with information to come forward. "Please do not assume that the police already know the information you have," Kelly stated, emphasizing the importance of even seemingly small details. "We are keen to hear from anyone who knew Paul and Gary or who was in the Partick area near to Chancellor Street from Friday morning from 09:00, who saw Paul or Gary, or saw or heard anything suspicious."
Officers are currently trawling through extensive public and private CCTV footage as part of the investigation and are continuing door-to-door inquiries in the vicinity. Superintendent Craig Brady extended his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased and acknowledged the impact of the incident on the local community. "I would like to thank everyone for their help so far," Brady added.
A major incident public portal has also been launched to aid the investigation. Police Scotland is appealing directly to the public for any information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, to assist with their inquiries into the deaths of Lafferty and Beaton.
