Workers in Manila navigated a river blanketed in trash as they collected debris that accumulated during several days of intense rainfall. The downpour, intensified by tropical storms, delivered rainfall equivalent to more than a month's accumulation in some regions. This weather event led to the closure of schools and government offices across the main island of Luzon and resulted in significant flooding in the capital city.

In the northern Philippines, the rains triggered floods, landslides, and accidents that claimed the lives of at least 16 people, according to rescuers. The extensive rain has highlighted ongoing issues with waste management and infrastructure in the region.
