A 45-year-old man died after being struck by a car on the M8 motorway west of Glasgow Airport on Sunday night. Police Scotland reported that the pedestrian was hit by a black Mini Cooper near junction 29 at approximately 11:45 p.m.
The motorway was closed in both directions between junctions 29 and 30 overnight following the incident. It reopened shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Monday, but the closure caused significant delays and congestion on diversion routes during the morning rush hour.
Authorities confirmed that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His relatives have been notified, and no other injuries were reported.
Sergeant Jack Swindells stated that inquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the collision. He appealed to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers to come forward and asked drivers in the vicinity at the time with dash-cam footage to review it for any information that could assist the investigation.
