A murder investigation is underway after human remains were discovered in Bedfont Lakes Country Park. The discovery was made following a grass fire that London Fire Brigade tackled on August 5.

Firefighters extinguished a blaze that damaged approximately two hectares of shrubland in the park. Following the fire, investigators found the human remains.

A post-mortem examination determined the remains belonged to a woman aged between 25 and 45. The area where the discovery was made showed signs of fire damage, with patches of ground appearing blackened and some vegetation affected.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, stated that authorities are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death while keeping an open mind. He urged anyone with information that could help identify the victim or clarify the circumstances of her death to come forward and contact the police.
