Missile explosions struck Kyiv early Saturday, injuring at least five people and damaging homes, commercial properties, and critical infrastructure. The attacks occurred as Ukraine prepared for new talks with Russia and the United States scheduled for Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.
Negotiators from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. are expected to convene for discussions aimed at ending the war, marking the fourth round of negotiations brokered by the Trump administration. Western governments involved in the peace initiative are seeking a new approach to break the current impasse, while acknowledging that unresolved territorial and security issues remain.
The overnight missile strikes in Kyiv damaged energy facilities, leading to power and water outages and affecting the city's heating systems. Traffic on a Kyiv bridge over the Dnipro River was also closed.
Meanwhile, in southern Ukraine, recovery operations continued in the village of Komyshuvakha. The village, located near the front line in the Zaporizhzhia region, was devastated earlier in the week when multiple Russian guided bombs hit a former school and a nearby shelter where residents were awaiting humanitarian aid. Dozens of people remain missing following that attack, in which 55 people were killed. Two bodies were recovered early Saturday from the site, which had been repurposed as an aid distribution center.
