A Mercedes collided with a police car on Boston Manor Road in Brentford on Friday, leaving the Mercedes partially mounted on top of the police vehicle but miraculously resulting in no life-threatening injuries for the drivers, authorities said.
The collision occurred at about 12:05 p.m. at the junction of Boston Manor Road and Windmill Road on Sept. 12. Dozens of emergency workers from the Metropolitan Police, the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) responded. Four adults and one child were treated at the scene; three patients were taken to hospital and one person was discharged at the scene, the LAS said.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said the service was called at 12:07 p.m. and sent ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast-response car, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager and paramedics from its hazardous area response team (HART). "Our first paramedic arrived on scene in four minutes," the spokesperson said. "We treated four adults and one child. We took three patients to hospital and discharged one person at the scene."
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers were called at 12:05 p.m. following a collision between a vehicle and a police car. "The London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service assisted at the scene, where the drivers and passengers of both cars were deemed not to have life-threatening or life-changing injuries," the spokesperson said. No arrests were reported.
Video and photographs circulated from the scene showed both vehicles with extensive damage, smashed windows and debris scattered across the road. The images showed the Mercedes stationary with its two rear wheels resting on the police car's windscreen.
Emergency services kept the road closed while crews worked at the scene. The LAS confirmed the hazardous area response team attended, reflecting the scale of the collision and the need to ensure patient and responder safety during casualty extraction and treatment.
The Metropolitan Police asked anyone with information to contact officers via 101, quoting incident reference CAD 2914/12SEP. Investigators will examine the circumstances that led to the collision as part of routine inquiries into road traffic collisions involving emergency vehicles.
No further details about the condition of those taken to hospital were released by the services. The agencies involved declined to provide immediate information on whether the police vehicle was on duty at the time of the collision.
Traffic disruptions persisted in the area while recovery teams cleared the damaged vehicles and debris. Local road users were advised to expect delays during the afternoon following the incident.
