Authorities have launched a manhunt for two women and a man who fled the scene of a four-vehicle collision near Edinburgh Airport that resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred on the A8 Glasgow Road near Newbridge around 10 a.m. on Monday.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash involving a grey Mercedes A250, a black Renault Captur, a grey Skoda Karoq, and a grey Hyundai i30. The 58-year-old driver of the Hyundai i30 was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

Three individuals, two women and a man associated with the Mercedes, departed the crash site on foot before police arrived. Specialist resources, including sniffer dogs and helicopters, were deployed in the search for the trio on Monday.

The A8 remained closed for investigation purposes and was reopened at 7 p.m. The vehicles involved have been recovered. Police released an appeal for information on Tuesday as the search for the three individuals continues.

Inspector Thomas Mallinson stated, "My thoughts are with the family of the person who died at this incredibly difficult time. Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash, and it is vital we trace the three people who left the area before police arrived." He urged anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dash-cam footage to contact the authorities.
