A man in his 40s sustained severe leg injuries after being shot in west Belfast late Sunday night. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in an alleyway situated between the Falls Road and Ross Road.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) stated that the man was shot once in the leg and has been transported to a hospital for treatment. While his injuries are not life-threatening, they are described as severe and are expected to cause lasting physical and emotional trauma.

Police officials noted that the attack has "caused fear and disruption" within the community. Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey condemned the shooting, emphasizing that such violence has "no place in our community" and is "completely unacceptable" to local residents. He urged those responsible to consider the distress their actions inflict. The PSNI received a report regarding the shooting from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), prompting officers to respond to the scene.
