A man has died and at least six other people were injured following the collapse of a large wooden sign at the Big Church Festival in West Sussex, England. The incident occurred near the entrance to a tented area at the festival grounds.

Festival organizers have canceled the remainder of the event, which was scheduled to run from Friday to Sunday. They stated they are "devastated" by the man's death and are cooperating with emergency services, police, and the Health and Safety Executive as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse. "We are incredibly grateful to everyone who responded, and to our teams and community for the care they have shown one another," organizers said.

Sussex Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The Health and Safety Executive and the local authority have also been informed.

The Big Church Festival, founded in 2009, describes itself as the UK's largest Christian festival. This year's event was taking place near Steyning, West Sussex.
