A 39-year-old man has been charged with murder after the body of Christopher "Chrissy" Burns was found at a property in Mountnorris, County Armagh, police said.

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers attended a house in Cusher Green on Thursday morning where they found Mr Burns, in his early 40s, with serious head and facial injuries. He was originally from Warrenpoint in County Down and had reportedly been living at the Mountnorris address for a number of years.

The suspect has been charged with murder and is due to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday, the PSNI said. Detectives remain at the scene and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Burns's death.

Police appealed to anyone with information to contact investigators. Officers often seek mobile phone footage, doorbell camera recordings or witnesses who were in the area around the time of the incident to assist with inquiries.

The PSNI did not provide further details about how the two men were known to one another or about any motive. The charged man will be formally presented before the court where custody arrangements and any next steps in the criminal process will be determined.

The investigation follows routine procedures for a suspected homicide, including forensic examination of the property and house-to-house inquiries. Local residents were informed by officers at the scene while detectives prepared to work through evidence and witness accounts.

No further comment was released by family members through police at the time the charge was announced. The case will proceed through the court system, where the charged individual will have the opportunity to enter a plea and legal representatives may address bail and other matters.
