Police Scotland has charged a 35-year-old man in connection with the death of a nine-year-old girl in Arbroath. The incident occurred on the Elliot Industrial Estate.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after midnight on Sunday following reports that the child had been found injured. She was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee along with four other individuals. The girl later died from her injuries.

The man, who was known to the girl, was arrested and has now been charged. He is scheduled to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Mike Ness of Police Scotland's major investigation team stated that no other individuals are being sought in connection with the incident. The family of the girl, who were reportedly camping in the area, are being supported by specialist officers. "Our thoughts remain with those affected by these events," Ness added. A police presence will continue in the area as inquiries proceed.
