A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a significant fire that destroyed approximately 100 cars parked at Caldyne Business Park in Rowfant, near Crawley, West Sussex. The fire, which broke out around 9 p.m. on Saturday, prompted a response from eight fire engines and two water carriers.
The car park is understood to be primarily used by travelers heading to Gatwick Airport. Fire crews worked through the night to bring the blaze under control.
The fire also impacted the surrounding area, causing a power outage for more than 2,000 homes due to damage to high-voltage equipment near the car park. Authorities advised the public to avoid the area while emergency services managed the incident.
