Police have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing attack that occurred early Friday morning at a Sikh temple in Edmonton, Canada, leaving two people injured.

The incident took place around 5:00 AM local time inside the Nanaksar Gurdwara. Authorities have not yet released the suspect's identity or specified a motive for the attack. Investigators confirmed that the Gurdwara has been closed to the public as the investigation continues.

This event follows recent reports of threatening calls directed at two Sikh gurdwaras in Calgary, located approximately two hours south of Edmonton. The World Sikh Organization stated that the attack is deeply concerning, particularly against a backdrop of increasing anti-Sikh sentiment in Canada. The organization described the alleged assailant as an "intruder" who entered the temple and attacked individuals. A copy of the Sikh scripture was also reportedly desecrated.

Calgary's mayor, Jeromy Farkas, condemned the threats made in his city, calling them "utterly disgusting" and emphasizing that gurdwaras are places of welcome and service for everyone.
