Igho Ubiribo, a 43-year-old businessman and social media influencer, died in Bangkok, Thailand, in March following a penis enlargement procedure. An inquest in London heard that Ubiribo received injections of 40 milliliters of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a clinic during a vacation with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.

While on vacation, Ubiribo decided to undergo the cosmetic procedure. Shortly after, while receiving a massage with his wife, he began complaining of chest pain and fainted twice. He was taken to Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok, where he was admitted to the emergency room. His wife informed doctors about the penile filler injections. Doctors identified a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of a blood vessel in the lungs, as the cause of his condition.

Médical staff attempted to resuscitate Ubiribo, but he died in the early hours of March 6 after more than 100 minutes of CPR. A postmortem examination in the UK conducted by pathologist John du Parcq found cellular material in Ubiribo's lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid used in the injections, consistent with a pulmonary embolism and the Thai autopsy findings.

Ubiribo, who had an estimated 185,000 Instagram followers, spent much of his time at a $1.1 million home in Los Angeles and also owned a $600,000 flat in London. He was described as British-Nigerian. He married his wife, an Anglo-Zimbabwean fashion designer, in a lavish ceremony in Zimbabwe in 2022.

The clinic where the procedure took place was not named. Medical professionals have previously warned against cosmetic penis enlargement procedures involving hyaluronic acid. Reports suggest the number of men undergoing such procedures is growing, with potential risks including severe skin reactions and dissatisfaction with the results. Ubiribo was laid to rest in London in a gold coffin, reportedly costing over $675,000. Mourners at his funeral included Nigerian afrobeat star Davido.
