The Green Welly Stop, a well-known roadside destination in Tyndrum, Scotland, has been placed for sale after operating for over six decades. Founded in 1965 by Betty and Les Gosden, the business has become a significant stopping point, particularly for those traveling to and from the Highlands.

Initially established as a post office and general store with a few fuel pumps, the Green Welly Stop evolved into a family enterprise. Over the years, multiple generations of the Gosden family and their spouses joined the operation. It is now regarded as a crucial halfway point for hikers on the West Highland Way and for travelers along the A82, attracting walkers, motorcyclists, campervans, and coaches.

The establishment serves approximately 6,000 vehicles daily. The freehold property includes two cafes, retail shops, a whisky off-sales section, and traveler facilities. It also benefits from unopposed fuel sales, with the nearest competitor located 21 miles away.

After 61 years of family ownership, the current managing partners, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson, described the decision to sell as difficult but timely. They expressed gratitude to customers, staff, and the local community for their support over the years and hope the new owners will continue to develop the business while respecting its heritage.

Christie & Co is handling the sale, with Mark Lavery noting the property's potential for further development as a profitable fuel and retail destination. The sale marks the end of an era for the iconic landmark, often referred to as the 'gateway to the Highlands.'
