A Guyanese social media influencer identified as Lola Doll was in critical condition after being shot multiple times in a drive‑by shooting outside her East Ruimveldt home just before midnight Saturday, the Guyana Police Force said.
Police said the 33‑year‑old, whose legal name is Lolita Callender, was seated in her car in front of her house when a male on a motorcycle opened fire. "Preliminary information indicates that the victim was seated in her motor car when she was shot by a male on a motorcycle," authorities said. Callender was hit several times, including wounds to the neck, face, hands and right leg, and was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital in critical condition.
In an update Sunday afternoon, police named a suspect in the case and sought the public's assistance. Paul Daby Jr. is wanted for attempted murder in connection with the shooting, the force said. Investigators are reviewing closed‑circuit television footage from the area and conducting searches for the gunman, who fled the scene after the attack, police added.
Authorities said the motive for the shooting remained unclear and that the investigation was ongoing. No arrests had been reported in initial updates, and police did not immediately provide further details about a possible connection between the suspect and the victim.
Callender rose to prominence on social media, using the stage name Lola Doll, and had more than 52,000 followers on Instagram. She promoted her music and appeared at flamboyant parties and public events, frequently posting images and videos in revealing clothing. She has released songs such as "Snatched" and "Cement Body" and has appeared in several provocative music videos that have drawn hundreds of thousands of views.
Local law enforcement officials said they had canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and physical evidence and were urging anyone with information or additional video footage to come forward. The review of CCTV footage is part of an effort to establish the sequence of events and identify others who may have been involved or seen the suspect.
The shooting comes amid broader concerns in Guyana over violent crime and the safety of public figures and content creators, but police cautioned against drawing conclusions until more evidence is collected. The Guyana Police Force continued to appeal for information as it advanced its inquiries into the attack on Callender.
Hospital officials did not immediately release further information about Callender's condition beyond the police statement. The investigation remains active, and authorities said updates would be provided as more facts are confirmed.
