Water supply has been restored to both terminals at Gatwick Airport following a major outage that caused significant disruption for passengers and staff. The issue, which led to toilets being out of order and restaurants closing, was caused by a power outage at SES Water's Bough Beech Water Treatment Works.
Bottled water was made available to passengers and staff while contingency measures were implemented. SES Water, the water company responsible for the supply, confirmed that a power outage at its treatment works created complications, impacting water pressure and leading to a temporary loss of supply for some customers, including Gatwick Airport.
Engineers worked to overcome these complications and return the treatment works to normal service as quickly as possible. Gatwick Airport apologized for the disruption and inconvenience caused to travelers.
