A blast from an explosive device seriously injured three people at a residential building in Monaco on Monday night, and the suspected attacker fled into France, according to local authorities. French and Ukrainian media identified one of the injured as Ukrainian construction tycoon Vadym Iermolaiev.

Monaco’s Minister of State Christophe Mirmand stated that French and Monaco authorities are investigating the motive for the attack and searching for the suspect. The explosion occurred around 9 p.m. near the French border, injuring two adults and a child. The victims were transported to hospitals in France.

Video surveillance in Monaco and the neighboring French town of Beausoleil identified the suspect, who crossed the border into France on foot. French police are supporting the investigation. Ukrainska Pravda reported that Iermolaiev was targeted by Ukrainian sanctions in 2023 due to alleged ties to Russia.

Prince Albert II of Monaco called the incident "an odious act" and confirmed that all of the principality's services were mobilized to ensure security.
