At least eight people were killed and one person was seriously injured in a series of shootings across three Turkish villages, according to reports.
The incidents occurred near the town of Afyonkarahisar, located between Ankara and Izmir on Turkey's western coast.
Authorities found two women with gunshot wounds in Yukaritandir village who later died from their injuries. Three more bodies were discovered in Kiyir village to the northeast, and an additional three in Ayazini village to the east. Among the deceased were two teachers, Turkish media reported.
CCTV footage captured a man, described as wearing a black jacket, white trousers, and glasses, holding a rifle next to a red minivan. Police located the vehicle abandoned and stuck in mud on the outskirts of Eskisehir, a city approximately 60 miles north of the shooting sites. The gunman reportedly fled the scene on foot.
Investigators are reportedly examining a potential link between these shootings and an earlier incident in Afyonkarahisar where a woman in a car sustained serious injuries from a gunshot. The Afyonkarahisar Governorate released a statement confirming that state institutions are working in coordination to address the situation and offered condolences to the victims' families.
