An Egyptian court has sentenced prominent television host Sarah Khalifa to death by hanging for her alleged involvement in a large-scale synthetic drug trafficking operation. Khalifa was one of 12 defendants to receive the capital sentence.

The case involved a total of 28 individuals accused of forming an organized criminal group responsible for manufacturing and distributing synthetic narcotics. The prosecution stated that the group imported raw materials, manufactured the drugs, and stored them in a residential property.

Khalifa, who also owns a beauty clinic and previously hosted the Egyptian crime show "Mission Impossible," was reportedly arrested in Cairo in April 2025. She maintained a significant online presence with more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram.

During the investigation, authorities seized over 750 kilograms (approximately 1,653 pounds) of synthetic drugs and precursor materials. The prosecution's case was reportedly built on witness testimonies, digital evidence, and photographic and video material documenting the alleged criminal activities.

In addition to the 12 death sentences, nine defendants received life sentences, and seven were acquitted of all charges. The court also placed the defendants' assets and bank accounts under precautionary measures.
