Revenue officers at Dublin Airport have seized more than €950,000 (approximately £813,000) worth of crystal methamphetamine and cannabis from a passenger's luggage. The drugs were discovered vacuum-packed in bags belonging to a woman who had disembarked from a flight that originated in Canada.
During the inspection, officers, aided by a detector dog named Charlie, found an estimated 29 kilograms of herbal cannabis and 6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. The cannabis alone is valued at approximately €584,000 (£500,000), while the crystal meth is estimated to be worth over €368,000 (£315,000).
The seizure included two large suitcases filled with the illicit substances.
A woman, identified as being in her 50s, has been arrested in connection with the discovery. She is currently being held at Dublin Garda Station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Revenue has stated that its investigation into the matter is ongoing and has urged the public to report any relevant information to them via a confidential phone line.
