A dog missing for a month in Mexico has been reunited with its owner after being found among fans celebrating the country's World Cup victory. The dog, named La Gorda, disappeared from her home in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, on May 24. Her owner, Ale Garcia, had put out an appeal for information three days later.
La Gorda reappeared last week in a live stream, located nine miles from her home, in an area where fans were celebrating Mexico's 3-0 victory over Czechia. She was seen being held by a jubilant fan. Garcia's brother spotted the dog in the footage, leading to the reunion.
"Life is good," Garcia told ABC Noticias after being reunited with La Gorda. "Mexico won, and I found my dog after a loooong time thanks to a livestream lol. Thanks for the messages; she’s home now, and we’re going to take her to the vet."
Garcia also shared her mixed emotions with Milenio, stating, "While we were worried looking for her, she was out partying." La Gorda's unexpected celebration occurred as Mexico secured its first World Cup knockout win in 40 years with a 2-0 victory over Ecuador.
