A British tourist has died in a parasailing accident in Benidorm, Spain, while on holiday with her husband.

The 66-year-old woman reportedly fell onto rocks after a strong gust of wind caused a breakage in the line tethering the parachute to the towing boat. She went into cardiac arrest upon impact but resuscitation attempts at Benidorm Port were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. At the time the boat set off, yellow flag weather conditions were in place, but a red flag was later raised for swimmers due to a sudden change in weather.

Witnesses described seeing the parasail spiral out of control after the line broke, with the couple heading towards the rocks as they were at the mercy of the wind. "It was clear they were going to crash," one witness told local press.

It is unclear if the woman's husband sustained injuries, but he survived the incident and is understood to be a witness. A police investigation into the accident is ongoing. ![File photo] A British tourist has reportedly died during a horror parasailing accident in Benidorm while she was with her husband "A British tourist has reportedly died during a horror parasailing accident in Benidorm while she was with her husband"
