A 64-year-old British tourist died at an Ibiza hotel after an incident involving a water slide on Saturday morning. The man was on holiday with his wife and daughter when he used the slide and subsequently did not surface in the hotel pool.
Emergency services were called to the unnamed hotel in the resort of Cala Tarida on the island's west coast around 11:30 a.m. Hotel staff provided CPR and used a defibrillator after the man went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics continued treatment upon their arrival, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:30 p.m.
The Civil Guard confirmed the incident, stating that officers are reporting to a local court. Initial assessments at the scene did not reveal any apparent injuries that would suggest the man hit something on the slide or in the pool. A post-mortem examination is expected to help determine the cause of death, with sources suggesting a possible pre-existing health issue.
Cala Tarida is located in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. The incident occurs amidst reports of other drownings involving British children in Spanish pools in recent weeks.
