Abigail Lainton, 16, from Swindon, England, passed away on July 30, after the incident occurred while she was on holiday with her parents and two siblings. Her sister, Carley, and brother, Bradley, were also severely injured in the accident, the details of which remain unclear.

Known to friends and family as 'Abbie,' the teenager was remembered for her kindness, vibrant smile, and dedication to cheerleading. Tributes from her former dance school, Tanwood School for Performing Arts, and her cheerleading society, Swindon Lightning Cheer, highlighted her positive impact on those around her.

"Abbie was a much-loved member of our Swindon Lightning family. Her kindness, infectious smile, unwavering encouragement and love for cheerleading touched the lives of so many athletes, coaches and families over the years," Swindon Lightning Cheer posted on Instagram. "She brought so much light to our gym, and her loss has left us all heartbroken."

Abbie's cheer coach, Mychael James-Dixon, described her as someone who "filled every room she was in with her warmth and smile." A GoFundMe page has been established to support the family during this difficult time.

Abbie would have been celebrating the receipt of her GCSE results this summer, according to a tribute posted by Becky Jamieson, who organized the fundraising effort. The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.
