Nepali rescuers have successfully located and saved a British man almost a week after severe flash floods devastated the region. The rescue operation comes as the confirmed death toll from the disaster in Nepal has risen to at least 1,050 people, with more than 4,000 still unaccounted for.

The floods, which surged across the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, caused widespread destruction, sweeping away homes, buildings, roads, and bridges. The deluge also carried significant amounts of mud and rocks downstream.

A spokesperson for the search and rescue efforts confirmed the British man's recovery, stating that 118 Nepalese individuals had also been rescued. Of the Nepalese citizens rescued, 44 were female and 74 were male.

On the Tibetan side of the border, Chinese officials reported that 16 people had died as a result of the flooding.
