A 12-year-old British girl, Carmelita Lakdesha Paul, has been reported missing after disappearing during a family trip to Japan. Her family last saw her on August 12 at their Tokyo accommodation. They discovered she was gone the following morning and reported her missing to police at 9:30 a.m. on August 13.

Carmelita's father stated that he had spoken with her the night before her disappearance and noted no suspicious behavior. She was captured on CCTV later that morning walking in the Kamata district, near where the family was staying. She appeared to be wearing a blue sleeveless top, a black and white skirt, black pumps, and carrying a pink handbag.

Police reported that Carmelita then boarded a train at Kamata Station and traveled approximately 20 minutes south to Yokohama Station. Authorities have not been able to track her movements beyond that point. She did not take her phone or passport with her and is believed to have had only a small amount of Japanese currency, estimated to be no more than £70.

Carmelita is described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall, of medium build, with curly dark hair. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) confirmed they are supporting the family and are in contact with local authorities. Police have urged anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact Tokyo authorities.
