A British father has been charged with negligence after his three-year-old son died from a fall from a hotel window in Cyprus. The incident occurred approximately 40 minutes after the family checked in for their two-week holiday.

The 37-year-old father and the boy were reportedly in a fourth-floor corridor playing while waiting for an elevator when the toddler fell 33 feet to the hotel's main veranda below. An ambulance was called, but paramedics found the child unresponsive. He was taken to Paphos General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. A post-mortem examination confirmed the child died from severe traumatic brain injury and multiple injuries sustained in the fall.

The boy's grandfather was also present and witnessed the tragedy. The father, whose identity has not been released, appeared at Paphos District Court charged with causing death through negligence, reckless and dangerous actions, and failing in his duty of care. He was visibly distressed during the proceedings and was remanded in custody for eight days.

Police are continuing their investigation, collecting statements and reviewing CCTV footage from the luxury hotel in Chloraka, which offers multiple amenities including restaurants, bars, a spa, a gym, and a kids' club. The British High Commission has confirmed it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to the family.
