The bodies of Brazilian influencer Ulissias Marcelli, 30, and her boyfriend, Vinícius Souza de Carvalho, 28, were discovered by a farm worker on a rural roadside in Porto Seguro, Bahia, on Friday night. According to reports, the couple may have been held captive before being fatally shot.
Marcelli, a content creator known for her goth style and who had amassed over 20,000 Instagram followers, was scheduled to host the Rock Gaya Festival in Porto Seguro on July 25. The festival organizers shared their grief on Instagram, stating, "We are still trying to find words for a moment like this. It’s hard to believe that someone who was about to share such a special moment with us has left us so soon."
Brazilian Civil Police are investigating possible motives for the slayings. Authorities are probing whether the deaths could be connected to debts within a drug trafficking organization or to narcotics sales by a criminal group operating in the region.
Marcelli is survived by her 13-year-old son. Fans expressed condolences on social media, with one user writing, "Brazil is experiencing rampant violence; my condolences to the family members."
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
