A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the discovery of a teenage girl's body in bushes near a bowls club in Blaina, Wales. The body is believed to be that of 14-year-old Lilly Jones.

The boy, from the Blaenau Gwent area, was arrested after the body was found in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina on June 22. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Newport Magistrates' Court on Friday. The Crown Prosecution Service authorized Gwent Police to bring the charge.

Lilly Jones was last seen in High Street, Blaina, at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. Her disappearance was reported, leading to searches that culminated in the discovery of her body in Pilgrims Park, an area adjacent to the A467 and about half a mile from where she was last seen. Parts of the park were cordoned off as forensic officers conducted an investigation.

Police confirmed that Lilly's name was released with her family's knowledge due to its involvement in court proceedings. Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas acknowledged the public's interest and urged caution regarding online commentary to ensure the integrity of the investigation and potential legal proceedings. He also thanked local residents for their patience and support.

Authorities reminded the public that criminal proceedings are active and emphasized the right to a fair trial, cautioning against any reporting or online sharing of information that could prejudice the case.
