Police have recovered a body during the search for a 15-year-old boy who went missing while swimming in Testwood Lakes on Wednesday. The nature reserve, located near Totton, Hampshire, was evacuated as marine units conducted their search.

The boy's family has been notified, and formal identification has occurred. A file is being prepared for the coroner. The incident took place on a day when temperatures in Hampshire reached 36 degrees Celsius amid an extreme heat warning.

Testwood Lakes, owned by Southern Water and managed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, remains closed, and the public is being urged to avoid the area. This incident is the latest in a series of water-related deaths during the summer's hot weather.

Earlier in the week, a 22-year-old man died in the River Severn, and a 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at Aberavon beach in Wales. In May, several people, including a teenage girl, died during a previous heatwave. Separately, the HM Coastguard rescued approximately 20 teenagers from rough seas off the Lancashire coast after they got into difficulty in Fleetwood.
