Badung Police in Bali are investigating an incident captured on a home security camera that appears to show two women performing a sex act on a tourist outside a private residence. The footage, which circulated on social media, shows the group in a doorway where a transaction seems to have taken place.
The homeowner discovered the incident when she heard whispering outside her home and checked her security cameras. The homeowner subsequently posted the footage online in an effort to deter similar behavior, citing previous occurrences in the area.
Police have confirmed the incident took place outside a local resident's home in Canggu, North Kuta, early on Thursday, August 20. Preliminary checks indicate one man, allegedly a foreigner, and two women, allegedly Indonesian, were involved. All three reportedly fled when the homeowner emerged.
Speculation suggests the women may be Gojek or Grab scooter drivers, common in Bali. However, they were not wearing company uniforms, and local reports indicate that drivers sometimes remove uniforms to operate in restricted areas.
If identified and charged, the tourist could face up to 18 months in prison for committing an obscene act in public. Additional charges related to the facilitation of prostitution could apply if sex was offered or arranged for money, potentially carrying a prison sentence of up to two years under Indonesia's new Criminal Code.
This investigation follows a separate incident last week where Bali police began searching for an Australian tourist caught on CCTV engaging in sex in the street. That incident occurred in Tibubeneng village, North Kuta, and was also captured by a homeowner's security camera. The homeowner in that case reportedly performed a Hindu ceremony to expel what she believed was bad energy resulting from the public act.
North Kuta Police chief Ketut Sukadana stated that the Australian man in the street incident had been identified and authorities were coordinating with immigration for his location. Sukadana emphasized the potential negative impact of such indecent acts on public order and Bali's tourism image, stressing the need for serious action against perpetrators.
