Police in Bali are investigating the deaths of an Australian man and his two children, who were discovered in their bungalow on Sunday. The victims have been identified as Damien John Shaw, 56, and his son, aged six, and daughter, aged four.
Authorities were alerted after the man's wife, who was in Jakarta at the time, became concerned during a phone call with her husband. She reported hearing one of her children crying and subsequently lost contact with Shaw. She then contacted a neighbor and asked them to check on the family.
The neighbor, accompanied by other residents, forced entry into the property after receiving no response to their knocking and found the bodies inside.
Shaw was reportedly from Fremantle in Western Australia. Roger Cook, the Premier of Western Australia, described the situation as "very confronting" and expressed condolences to those involved, stating a hope for a swift resolution to understand the circumstances.
Bali police have stated that the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined and that further examinations are pending. Australian media have reported that the case is being treated as a suspected murder-suicide.
