Authorities in Thailand have arrested an Australian man, Simon Peter Carman, and charged him with murder following the discovery of a 17-year-old girl's body. The teenager, identified in local media as Tunchanok Donhomla, was found stuffed inside a suitcase near a railway track in the coastal city of Pattaya early Saturday.

The victim had been reported missing by her family at 5:00 PM local time on Friday. Pattaya City Police reviewed CCTV footage that allegedly showed Carman entering a condominium with the teenager and later emerging alone, carrying a large suitcase. The footage purportedly shows him loading the bag onto a motorbike and driving towards a railway line.

Carman was apprehended at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport at 1:15 AM on Saturday as he was allegedly preparing to leave the country. His arrest occurred approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of Pattaya. The suitcase containing the victim's body was discovered about 15 minutes later.

Carman has denied the charges, reportedly telling the victim's family in a message, "I feel bad for what happened to your daughter. It was out of my control."
