An American tourist died late Thursday night after falling from the 18th floor of the Breathless Cancun Soul Resort & Spa, a five-star, adults-only, all-inclusive property. The woman’s fall measured approximately 150 feet.
Emergency services pronounced the woman dead at the scene. According to local media reports, the tourist’s husband informed security staff that his wife had done something “outrageous” moments after the incident.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the death, and the husband is expected to be questioned by investigators.
The Breathless Cancun Soul Resort & Spa is located on Kukulcan Boulevard in Cancun’s hotel zone, a stretch known for its numerous resorts. The resort features 429 suites and is situated about 25 minutes from the Cancun International Airport.
