An Afghan boxer has returned to court in Athens to face charges related to the death of a Scottish aid worker. Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, is accused of homicide with intent, robbery, and weapons offenses in connection with the death of Elisabeth Ross, 38, who was found in a derelict building in the Kypseli area of the Greek capital on July 18.

Ahmadzai appeared in court on Thursday morning. The previous day, he was assigned a court-appointed lawyer and given time to prepare his defense. He had initially been detained on charges of illegal weapons possession.

Greek officials have stated that Ahmadzai admitted to moving Ross's body but denied allegations of homicide. He is also accused of stealing more than €10,000 (approximately £8,500) from her bank accounts using her bank cards. The charge of homicide with intent is equivalent to a murder charge under Scots law.
