A West Point cadet has pleaded guilty to assault after secretly administering abortion medication to his pregnant girlfriend, causing her to miscarry.
Caleb Suh, 24, entered his guilty plea in Manhattan Federal Court last month. The incident occurred in 2022 when both were cadets at the U.S. Military Academy. According to court documents, Suh obtained the medication from an online pharmacy and ordered it under his girlfriend's name. He then presented the pills to her as a "special pregnancy protein powder."
His girlfriend was subsequently hospitalized, and she suffered a miscarriage. Suh, who was a sophomore at the time, had been assigned as the young woman's team leader and mentor at West Point. A civil lawsuit has also been filed against him, alleging assault and battery.
Despite his guilty plea, a judge has allowed Suh to delay his sentencing until January. This delay is so he can complete his master's program at Columbia University, where he is currently enrolled.
Suh's father, Ryung Suh, is a retired Georgetown professor and a healthcare consultant who holds the position of Chief of Staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs Washington DC Healthcare System. The family previously listed their $17 million mansion in Washington, D.C., for sale, a property known for hosting elaborate James Bond-themed parties.
