Shootings in three college communities across the United States over the weekend resulted in one death and at least 21 injuries, according to police reports. The incidents occurred in Bloomington, Indiana; Newark, Delaware; and Birmingham, Alabama, with local police departments investigating each.

In Bloomington, near Indiana University's homecoming celebration, seven people were hospitalized. Police responded to a large crowd around Kirkwood Avenue and Dunn Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after hearing gunshots. Officers took a man into custody nearby and recovered a firearm, though it remains unclear if he fired any shots. No deaths were reported in this incident.

The University of Delaware in Newark also experienced a shooting on Saturday night. While the university has not confirmed a precise number of victims, reports indicate at least six people were hospitalized. The Newark Police Department is leading the investigation. University President Laura Carlson acknowledged the violence impacted the community and expressed gratitude to first responders for their on-scene care.

In Birmingham, Alabama, eight people were wounded and one person died following a shooting near Legion Field shortly after the Magic City Classic football game between rivals Alabama A&M and Alabama State. Authorities found nine individuals with gunshot wounds in the 400 block of Graymont Avenue West. One victim was in critical condition, while the others were reported stable. Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett stated that one person had been detained for questioning, and multiple weapons were recovered.

The Magic City Classic is a significant event drawing large crowds, with nearly 70,000 fans attending Saturday's game. The shooting occurred in an area where vendors were set up along Graymont Avenue after many spectators had left the stadium.

Separately, in Dallas, police are investigating four deaths and 15 injuries resulting from three separate shootings in a neighborhood. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux indicated that authorities are working to determine if these incidents are connected and have made some arrests.

In Fayetteville, Arkansas, six individuals were hospitalized with gunshot wounds following a shooting early Sunday morning. Police stated that a preliminary investigation suggests an altercation preceded the incident, and no arrests have been made.
