Victoria Beckham has shared a unique method her husband, David Beckham, employs to encourage guests to leave their dinner parties. The former Spice Girl explained that David walks around the room blowing out candles, a subtle signal intended to prompt guests to depart.
Beckham revealed this hosting tactic in a behind-the-scenes video shared on her Instagram, coinciding with the launch of her new homeware line in collaboration with German retailer Westwing. "You know what happens in the Beckham house when David wants people to leave? He literally walks around the room blowing out the candles hoping that people will get the hint!" she said.
This method may be linked to David Beckham's lifelong struggle with OCD, which he detailed in his 2023 Netflix series. He described spending hours cleaning and tidying after his family goes to bed, expressing his dislike for waking up to a messy environment. He also mentioned the meticulous process of cleaning candles, including clipping wax and cleaning the inside of the glass, calling the smoke residue a "pet hate."
Beyond the candle trick, Victoria Beckham also outlined other hosting "dos and don'ts." She considers serving paper napkins an "unforgivable sin" and stated she would not attend a dinner party where they were provided. She also emphasized that mobile phones should never be placed on the dinner table, deeming it "very inelegant" and unhygienic.
The revelations come at a time when the Beckham family dynamics have been under scrutiny. Victoria's estranged son, Brooklyn Beckham, reportedly snubbed her Paris Fashion Week show earlier this month. Despite being in Paris, he and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, were seen at events separate from Victoria's show, where David and their other children were present. Sources have suggested a deliberate distance is being maintained, with observations made about the pair's public appearances being documented by a specific paparazzi agency.
