A Utah teenager who vanished from her home more than 500 days ago has been found safe in Oregon. Kylie Arellano, who was 15 when she was last seen on May 29, 2025, was located on Sunday. A 39-year-old man, identified as Adam Harmel, has been taken into custody in connection with her disappearance.
Law enforcement officials believe Arellano met Harmel on Snapchat before she went missing. The Rich County Sheriff's Office in Utah, alongside the FBI, pursued leads across multiple states and even internationally in their extensive search.
Arellano's mother, Stephanie Coleman, expressed her relief on social media, stating, "I brought you home baby girl!"
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Arellano's disappearance has also involved scrutiny of Coleman. Search warrants executed in April and May revealed allegations that Arellano had previously complained of abuse by her mother. Law enforcement also reported finding what appeared to be bloodstains in the family home. Coleman has denied any abuse, attributing the stains to a family cat.
FBI Director Kash Patel commented on the safe return of the teenager, thanking law enforcement partners and issuing a warning to those who prey on children online. "To anyone using gore groups to target and exploit children: the FBI and our partners are coming for you," Patel stated. "We are using every tool at our disposal to combat nihilistic violent extremism, bring offenders to justice and protect America's children."
The investigation is ongoing.
